June 14, 2000 — World Speed Record Test

High winds postponed Russ Wicks attempt for the world water speed record for a propeller-driven boat.  The winds caused white caps on Lake Washington, preventing safe conditions for the attempt.  Russ did run Dr. Ken Muscatel's Miss Freei unlimited hydroplane up and down the lake to familiarize himself with the one-mile section off of Sand Point.  The team will attempt to break the longest-standing major speed record in history, tomorrow, June 15 at Sand Point.
