Programming includes the American Speedking series of specials featuring Wicks' World Speed Record attempts
LOS ANGELES, October 25, 2004 – CreaTVworld announced today that it has entered into an agreement with World Speed Record Holder Russ Wicks to develop and produce television content surrounding Wicks' record breaking activities. This series of specials titled "American Speedking" will be produced during the next two years, and will follow Wicks' adventures as he prepares for, and participates in, the most extreme speed records known to mankind.
"We are excited about working with Wicks," said David Lyle, the former president at FremantleMedia North America. "The shows will combine the exciting elements of a David Blaine special, the thrill of an Evel Knievel spectacular, and a realistic behind-the-scenes look into the technical and human challenges that go into such a huge undertaking."
"As a pioneer in reality television, David Lyle is perfectly positioned to develop programming for audiences of today and tomorrow and distribute it to a worldwide audience," said Wicks. "I'm looking forward to working with CreaTVworld to deliver compelling shows while pushing the limits of speed on both land and water."
Wicks, with already one speed record listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, is now focused on returning the outright World Water Speed Record to the United States. Far beyond the current record of 317mph, Wicks' goal is actually to travel faster than 400 mph in his revolutionary jet-powered watercraft. Wicks' and his American Challenge team also have their sites set on a number of world speed records on land.
