Seattle, WA (August 3, 2001) - GM Nameplate announced today that their SuperGraphics division has signed as an official marketing partner of Racing Driver and World Record Holder, Russ Wicks. Last June, Wicks became the fastest man on water in a propeller-driven boat while driving an Unlimited Hydroplane on Seattle's Lake Washington.
Wicks established a new World Speed Record of 205.494 mph over the one-mile course. The previous record stood for 38 years and was the longest-standing major speed record in motorsports history. The event received an extensive amount of media attention including coverage by ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox Sports, and a thirty-minute documentary featured on ESPN's Speed World.
"Russ Wicks has proven to be an innovative member of both the high tech and racing industries," said Greg Root, President of SuperGraphics. "There are great synergies between SuperGraphics and Wicks — our involvement with Russ is symbolic — we are both highly competitive with a desire to win. This partnership is a great opportunity for SuperGraphics to gain valuable exposure while providing an elite platform for building relationships."
"I am thrilled to have SuperGraphics on-board with us," said Wicks. "GM Nameplate is a major sponsor of Seafair and is committed to helping evolve the cornerstone of Seafair events. We look forward to working with SuperGraphics and will be utilizing their advanced products and services throughout our motorsports campaign."
