On Tuesday, October 9, 2007, Russ Wicks set a new stock car world speed record of 244.9 MPH which was confirmed by Guinness World Records at the Bonneville Salt Flats in northwestern Utah. He hit a top speed of 247 MPH behind the wheel of a NASCAR-spec Dodge Charger stock car.
State-of-the-art technology was used throughout the testing and development phases to enhance the speed and stability of the vehicle.
Four days before the record was set, the NASCAR underwent aerodynamic testing at the Chrysler Wind Tunnel in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
