Wicks makes debut in NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster
During September 2003, Wicks made his debut on the quarter-mile while attending Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School, and has received his NHRA Competition Driver's License for both Super Comp and Top Alcohol Dragster.
Wicks learned the fast way down the quarter-mile while making runs at Pomona, CA in the Super Comp Dragster and also Gainesville, FL in the Top Alcohol Dragster.
With the legendary Frank Hawley as coach, Wicks made two of the most consistent 225+ MPH passes in history driving the Top Alcohol Dragster. To see a copy of the official time slips: Click Here
"Wicks applied his past experiences to the drag racing environment and proved he has the ability to excel in this sport. He was definitely in the top one-percent of our students, and the consistency of his last two runs in the Alcohol Dragster was simply amazing," said Frank Hawley.
As the Official School of the NHRA, Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School has been in business for 18 years, and has graduated over 15,000 students. Frank was two-time NHRA World Champion in Nitro Funny Car, and has won nine NHRA National Championships in both Top Fuel Dragsters and Nitro Funny Cars.
Many of today's top drivers either started at Frank Hawley's NHRA Drag Racing School or continue to work with Hawley on helping them maintain and improve their performance edge. Larry Dixon, Tony Schumacher, Doug Kalitta, Tony Pedregon, and Whit Bazemore are all graduates of Frank Hawley's Alcohol Course.
